Our Current Work

Reducing Waste in Pharmacy and Pharmaceuticals

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 85% of the waste generated by healthcare activities is non-hazardous waste, which are general waste that does not pose biological, chemical, radioactive, or physical hazard.

Recycling Pharmacy Stock Bottles

This is what the inside of a typical garbage can in a community pharmacy looks like. It includes paper, plastics, and mostly pharmacy stock bottles.

Pharmacy stock bottles are made of high density polyethylene (HDPE), which is highly recyclable. However, pharmacies tend to throw the stock bottles away in the trash/landfill.

If you are an independent pharmacy located in the San Francisco Bay Area wishing to recycle stock bottles, please contact us! We are currently recruiting independent pharmacies for our pharmacy stock bottle recycling project
